Retired Teacher, Principal, and USAF Veteran Garry Walthall

Retired for some 10 years, Garry Walthall, based in Pasco County, Florida, enjoyed a long career as an educator. He served three years as principal of Sunlake High School, preceded by three years as the school’s assistant principal. For 13 years, he was assistant principal at J.W. Mitchell High School. During his time there, Garry Walthall supervised learning communities, emphasizing topics such as business, health, and technology. He engineered the school’s master schedule and was in charge of exceptional student education, among other responsibilities. His previous positions include assistant principal at Wesley Chapel High School and four years as an aerospace science instructor at River Ridge High School.

Prior to his career as an educator, Garry Walthall was a superintendent of aircraft maintenance for the US Air Force. He earned master’s degrees in education and educational leadership at Old Dominion University and at the University of South Florida. Certified as a Florida principal at all levels of education, he also earned a business management degree at the University of Maryland. On his free time, he enjoys an active lifestyle and is a golf enthusiast.
